Nobel Price for Quantum Dots

The 2023 Nobel prize in chemistry goes to Moungi G. Bawendi (MIT, Cambridge, USA), Louis E. Brus (Columbia University, New York, USA) und Alexei I. Ekimov (Nanocrystals Technology Inc., New York, NY, USA) for the discovery and development of quantum dots. Quantum dots, also known as quantum crystals, show some interesting phenomena, such as different colours depending on the size of the crystals (plasmons).

IOLITEC has synthesized quantum dots (metals and metal oxides) more than 10 years ago via chemical methods. Their size was determined by photon-cross-correlation-spectroscopy (PCCS).

If you have any questions about this topic, please contact us. Upon request, we are able to synthesize quantum dots and/or characterize quantum dots using PCCS.
